Generation V1923to 2021
The doctors' generation
The eldest, Edward Charles Weppner, served with the U.S. Navy in special operations in the China–Burma–India theater during the Second World War. He then trained at Georgetown's medical school and at Sisters Hospital. He practiced obstetrics and gynecology for 35 years, chaired the department at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, and was married to Pauline Daily for 63 years.
David Francis Weppner became a pediatrician and chief of pediatrics at Sisters Hospital. He and Eileen Schmaltz raised three children in Williamsville, part of the postwar move out of the city into Amherst. Benjamin and Anne Johnson raised five sons nearby. Anne married Jack Fitzsimmons and made her home in Maryland. Mary Louise died in Orchard Park in 2002.
