Their story
Born in Buffalo in July 1855. Census takers found him as a boy in the city's 10th ward in 1860 and in the 4th ward in 1870 and 1875. On 14 September 1879 he married Maria Elisabeth (Mary) Bapst, and their only child, Louis, was born the next year. Mary died in 1894. In 1900 he lived with his father at 1165 Main Street; later censuses place him in the 15th ward in 1910 and the 23rd in 1915 and 1920. He died on 24 November 1930.
