Their story
The son of Augustus's sister Eva Magdalena and Johann Philipp Born of Westhofen, and so Augustus's nephew. He came to Buffalo and ran a brewery on Genesee Street, and on 3 March 1840 he married his first cousin Anna Maria Weppner at St. Louis Church. Their son, Augustin, was born that December, and three daughters followed: Barbara, Anna Mary and Emma. Philip died suddenly on 26 January 1849, leaving Anna Maria a widow at thirty with three young daughters. Her brother Jacob took over the brewery and ran it until 1865, when it passed to Gerhard Lang, who married Philip's daughter Barbara; it grew into the Gerhard Lang Brewery. Philip and Anna Maria share a headstone at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Family trees give his birth as 7 May 1799. His headstone says he died aged 44, which points to about 1804.
