Their story

Catherine Dantzer's father. He was born at Altkirch, in the south of Alsace, on 28 June 1807 and married Marie Ursule Victoire Munch of nearby Hirsingue. They brought their family to Buffalo in the 1840s, and he started a butcher shop near the New York Central yards on Exchange Street and ran it for many years. His son-in-law Francis Weppner worked with him. Catherine's obituary says she told many stories of the days when Native Americans from around Buffalo sold cattle to her father. He died in Buffalo on 29 October 1878, and his middle name came back in his grandson Albert Morand Weppner.
