Their story

Born at Altkirch in Alsace on 20 July 1838, she came to Buffalo with her parents as a girl. Her father, Pierre Morand Dantzer, started a butcher shop near the New York Central yards on Exchange Street and ran it for many years, and Francis Weppner worked with him. She married Francis on 16 February 1858, and in 1860 the young couple lived in the 2nd ward. Her obituary says she “told many stories of the time when Indians in the vicinity of Buffalo sold cattle to her father.” Her father's middle name came back in her son Albert Morand Weppner. She died on 27 December 1915, leaving six sons and two daughters.

Family accounts say she came to Buffalo at seven, about 1845; the 1900 census gives her arrival as 1848. Her obituary says she was buried in Forest Lawn, but WikiTree, citing Find a Grave, places her grave in the United German & French Cemetery, now Mount Calvary, where Francis lies.
